The Nata Lisboa brand was launched quite recently, in June 2012, when five business partners decided to open a brand showroom in Príncipe Real, one of Lisbon’s trendiest neighborhoods, where they offered mainly their own exclusive pastel de nata from a recipe that had been awarded first prize in a blind test at the Escola Superior de Hotelaria e Turismo de Lisboa, the Lisbon Higher Institute of Management, Hospitality and Tourism. In December 2012, the five friends opened their first store in Porto. This was an instant hit and the brand now boasts 22 stores across the country. Porto, Lisbon, the Algarve, Braga, Coimbra, Matosinhos, Cascais, Leiria, Sintra, Nazaré and Viseu are some of the places where customers can try the brand’s delicious pastel de nata, other than the Nata Lisboa outlet store of Vila do Conde Porto Fashion Outlet. The brand has branched out into countries like Spain and Angola, United Arab Emirates, Austria, the Netherlands France, England, Germany, Belgium and Slovakia where it opened stores profiting from a growing international visibility of Portuguese cuisine. Such an innovative brand attracts both foreigners, tourists and nationals who have fallen in love with Nata Lisboa, in Portugal but also in the many stores open abroad .
