AUTUMN: THE EDIT
Caring for Your Quality Autumn Pieces: Leather, Mohair & Cashmere
Last season, we shared the best ways to keep your Spring pieces in great condition for years to come. We’re back again to give you more maintenance tips for some of our favourite Autumn materials: leather, mohair and cashmere.
Pele
While this material is hard-wearing, it still requires a gentle approach. Remove dust with a dry cloth then apply a specialist conditioner to keep it from drying out. You’ll need to keep your leather piece out of direct sunlight to preserve the colour and keep it from fading. Storing it in a cool, dry place in a dust bag is the safest option.
Mohair & Cashmere
Maintenance for these two materials is similar. Both should be hand-washed with a specialist natural fibre shampoo in cool water. As cashmere has some of the world’s finest fibres, this soft, delicate material requires especially gentle handling. Once washed, carefully press the wet garments to remove excess water before lying flat on a towel to dry. The longer Mohair fibres are wrinkle resistant, but cashmere may need a gentle steam to remove creases once dry.
